General Information
Playdead is a studio of 15 people, located on Pilestræde 43 in the centre of Copenhagen, Denmark. We are currently working on our next title, following the release of LIMBO.
You will become part of a production, which has a flat leadership structure in an artistic, creative and highly ambitious environment. We expect you to, like the rest of the team, to perform pro-actively and on your own initiative. It would be considered positive if you speak and understand Danish.

Platform Programmer
We are looking for a programmer to port our games for new platforms.
We have already released a game on X360, PS3, Windows, OSX and OnLive and we are continuously investigating other possible platforms. Your job is primarily porting to new platforms and secondarily maintaining current platforms. Our engine is written in C++, with an architecture made for multiple platforms.
We are currently investigating following new platforms; iOS, Win8, Android, NACL and other platforms could become relevant as well.
We are expecting the following from you:
- You are confident you can port a game to above mentioned platforms
- You have previous experience with a code base made for multiple platforms
- You have previous experience with graphics programming and performance optimization
- You are able to work independently
- You love doing platform code and work with large APIs
We prefer that you’re able to work from our office in the center of Copenhagen to feel part of the team and for better day to day communication.
Project Manager
We are looking for an experienced project manager to help organize our day to day business.
Responsibilities cover everything a young game studio needs, including:
- Development and maintenance of our daily production routines
- Contract reading and preparation
- Partner relations
- Preparation of various documents
Gameplay Designers
Playdead is expanding. We are looking for talented gameplay designers to work on the ambitious follow-up project to Limbo – our highly successful debut title.
As a gameplay designer at Playdead, your main responsibility is to design and build challenging levels as well as prototype new intriguing game mechanics. Our approach to level design is artistic, iterative, and based on rapid prototyping in favor of design manuals. You will be expected to prototype your own ideas, and should therefore be experienced in using game editors and visual scripting languages.
Responsibilities include
- Making it fun!
- Design and build challenging levels.
- Prototype new game mechanics.
- Design and prototype AI behaviors.
- Work with tools for setting up camera, animation, etc.
Qualifications
- Several years of experience with professional game development.
- Experience in working with game editors, scripting and/or visual programming.
- Experience with shipping projects a plus.
- Experience with Unity and 3D graphics a plus.
Game Programmers
Playdead is expanding. We are looking for talented game programmers to work on the ambitious follow-up project to Limbo – our highly successful debut title.
As a game programmer at Playdead, your main responsibility is to assist the gameplay designers in prototyping game mechanics, such as new enemies or puzzle mechanisms. Also, you will be expected to implement features for more advanced game systems such as camera and path-finding systems. Finally, you need to be passionate about games and interested in what qualities ultimately make the game fun.
Responsibilities include
- Implementation and design of intriguing game mechanics.
- Animation systems for the protagonist as well as NPCs.
- AI and path-finding solutions.
- Camera systems.
Qualifications
- Interest in gameplay and making it fun!
- Experience with professional game development.
- Strong knowledge of object oriented programming such as C# / C++.
- Strong math skills (linear algebra, trigonometry, etc.)
- Experience with Unity a plus.
